SHEPHERD LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

SHEPHERDS LEADERSHIP TEAM APPLICATION

The following is an application to be on the Shepherds leadership Team.  Filling out this form does not commit you to being on team. Nor does filling out the application guarantee you a spot, as there are only four spots available.  All applicants will also be scheduled for an interview upon the receipt of their application.  All Shepherds will receive $500 for college at the end of the year.  They will also compete for a $500 cash prize, which will be awarded at the end of year to the Shepherd of the house with the most points assuming he/she reaches the minimum number of points required.

WHAT SHEPHERDS DO

Being a Shepherd means making a commitment to Christ, Good Shepherd and your House.  Your main focus as a Shepherd is building friendships with the members of your house.  The vast majority of people are not inspired to follow Christ by some talk, a class or a book.  They are inspired by SOMEONE!  Christ-centered relationships are the best way to bring people into the Kingdom of God.  As a Shepherd you will reach out to people LIFE TEEN, build friendships through house-builders and invite new people to come to youth group.  Ministry in the Church is about saving souls and we will do this one person at a time.

Guidelines for letter to the bishop

Content:
Letters to the Bishop should reflect the individual character and style of each candidate. While honoring the letters as unique expressions, the following three topics should be worked into the letter’s body:
1. Biographical Information - The candidate should introduce themselves to the Bishop, i.e. who are they? how old they are? what grade they are in? what parish they belong to? who are their family members?
2. Description of Preparation – The candidate needs to communicate to the Bishop
how he or she has prepared for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
3. Personal Meaning – The candidate should reflect on what the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation means to them. Why do you want to be confirmed? Remember, this is not why you deserve to be confirmed because God's grace is a free gift that cannot be earned.

Special Mass

We will be doing a special mass for Allen, Nick and Ben this sunday night, April 10th, at six at the leestown rd. church instead of regular youth group.  This mass does fulfill the sunday obligation.  Please help me in spreading the word to parents. We, especially, want to invite all those (catholic and non-catholic) who were unable to attend the visitation and funerals.  We hope this will give them a chance mourn the loss of their friends and celebrate their life together.

Cancelled Confirmation Night

All confirmation students will receive full credit for the canceled night on the 27th.  I apologize for any inconvenience.  Blame the Cats.
