What do you do when you pray for 40 Days for Life? Because the prayers of many and the hard work of others, including our governor, the abortion facility on Burt Road remains closed.
The campaign this fall is by Planned Parenthood on Southland Drive. Planned Parenthood is a major source of abortion referrals, is substantially publicly funded, and fosters the attitude that choices of life or not are in the hands of people, not God.
When we go to pray we may pray from our car parked close to Planned Parenthood or we may walk and pray from the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood. We do not engage with those who enter or leave Planned Parenthood or the workers there. In fact, most of the Good Shepherd times are 8 to 9 in the morning, before it opens. We pray before they start their day--to surround the offices with prayer. This is not confrontational, but simple prayer.
Sometimes when we go others will be there. Sometimes we are the only ones scheduled.
Since we are only there an hour at a time, we try to be serious about our prayer. We say a rosary, a Divine Mercy Chaplet, and a Litany for Life. Remaining time is spent in silent prayer.
