The Annual Chrism Mass for all Catholics will be celebrated at our Cathedral of Christ the King on Saturday, March 28th at 10:30 a.m. This is the annual celebration inviting every Catholic to return to the “mothership” of each diocese – their local cathedral.
During this liturgy, lay Catholics, Consecrated Religious, and all the clergy of each diocese gather with the bishop to prepare for the celebration of the Passion of the Lord and Easter Sunday. Despite the stillness of Lent, this is when grand majestic music welcomes everyone and each parish is represented in a magnificent procession by their members using their parish banner during this annual homecoming event.
The three Holy Oils (Sacred Chrism, Oil of the Sick and Oil of the Catechumens) to be used by each parish for its future year’s sacraments are blessed and consecrated. Honorary members of each parish are invited to receive and return these three oils to their home parishes for their first use at the Easter Vigil.
Carpool! Hitch a ride! Join others from our parish and sit together! A nice food reception is held afterward so you may fellowship or tour the unique beauty and learn the history of our local cathedral.
