Holy Day - August 15th, in our Catholic faith tradition, is always an annual Holy Day honoring the Assumption into heaven, body and soul, of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This year August 15th is on a Monday. Since it falls right next to Sunday's Obligatory Solemnity, the bishops of the United States maintain August 15th always as a Holy Day for all the Catholic faithful, but not of Obligation, for 2016 year only. Word & Communion services will not be celebrated at Good Shepherd on August 15th, but Mass honoring the Assumption of the Mother of our Lord will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd for our Catholic church and school families. No Vigil Mass will be celebrated on the Sunday evening prior to this Holy Day.
