The question Cricket Hater most often gets asked is, “Is that your ‘real’ name?” Through the years her answer has become ‘Yes. It’s the name I’ve gone by my whole life so it is ‘real’ to me.”
Truth be told, her given name is Jennifer but not too many people use that moniker when talking to her. She considers her name a gift, bestowed by her father who thought it was going to be cute and unforgettable. Cricket grew up in Lexington, KY and went on to earn a degree in Social Services from Asbury University.
She went on to get married and have one son, Ryan who is a professional musician and her favorite person ever.
She has used her degree to work in many non-profit and social service organizations, including the Billy Graham Association, Dress for Success Louisville, and Christian Academy of Louisville. She has worked in ministry, education, and outreach for 34+ plus years, including founding a non-profit creative arts program in 2014 called the Louisville Creative Arts Academy. She really believes art can help us in so many ways.
When thinking about stewardship as it relates to her faith, Cricket believes God calls us to be good stewards of every single thing He entrusts to us and wants us to give back to Him in our time, talent, gifts, and service.
